Sweet 16 Theme Ideas

Sweet 16 Themes

Your daughters Sweet 16 is "the most important thing in the whole world!"(until she turns 16 and 5 days of course)Tongue out   The most important thing you can do is ask your daughter what she wants her sweet 16 to look like-ask her if she has a particular c olor she wants to base it on, a theme, perhaps she's seen something fun at her friends party.  As she's telling you her ideas..write them down and brainstorm with her! This process is the best part! There are sooo many different themes to choose from so have no fear! Have Fun! Some popular themes that we have come up with are below:

Black & White:  Black and White is such a classy theme- whenever I think of Black & White I think of old school Hollywood.  You can have everyone dress in either black, white, or both-and you wear something red (its your party! your the star!) Continue the color scheme through your invitaitons, centerpieces, decorations, and favors.  Some great decorations are black and white pictures, black and white balloons, tableclothes with black and white patterns.

Beach Theme:  Everyone loves a day at the beach! For the placecards you can have a sand box on a table(filled with sand of course) with sea shell placecards-(I prefer real sea shells) Check out our Beach Favor section so you don't have to go trudging up and down the beach.  Beautiful centerpieces can be hurricane vases filled with sand, sea shells, and a pillar candle, or something fun like a sand sculped sand castle.  For decorations you can do beach chairs, umbrellas, beach blankets.  Favors can be beach balls, beach ball bottle stoppers (for the adults), flip flops, and candles.

Candyland "Sweet 16": Invite your guests with a little treat-Candy Bar invites (very cute & tasty). These invites will set the perfect tone for what is to follow.  Depending on how detailed you want to get with the party you can make EVERYTHING edible.  Your placecards can be edible-candy bar with their names, lollipops with place cards.  Set the tone from the moment they get in with styrofoam lollipops, a path of peppermint mints (which can be made out of foam board and red paper or paint), or the squares from the game candyland. The centerpiece can be edible as well.  You can do a candy bouquet, lollipop bouquet, chocolate roses. Also, make sure theres some candies to nibble on at the table during the party.  Decorations-You can hang mints from the ceiling, strings of candy, styrofoam candy bars, anything-the possibilties are endless! What can the favor be? Maybe you can do a candy buffet during dessert hour along with cake.  The candy buffet can act as the guests favor as well with personalized bags.

Hollywood: Lights, Camera, Action! There are so many options when it comes to Hollywood- you can do a specific movie, a certain awards ceremony (VMA's, Grammys, Golden Globe, Academy Awards), favorite actor/actress.  Pick your colors and stick with theme -(black, white, gold, silver, red) stick with them through your invites, decors, and favors and of course try to have a red carpet, and stars!

Mardi Gras: Make New Orleans envious of your party! The colors of Mardi Gras are predominately Purple, Gold, and Green.  Masks can serve as invitations, placecards or favors..and whats mardi gras without beads?  Maybe you can play a game to hand out the beads, have a dance off, or have the party girl go around handing out beads.

Pink Party: Is your favorite color pink? They came up with the saying "Pretty in Pink" for a reason- b/c everything looks SOOO "pretty in pink".  This is a fun theme to decorate with-you can try to find how many different things you can put in the room that are pink.  Pink invitations, pink placecards, pink centerpieces, pink balloons, pink candy, pink cake/cupcake frosting, pink giveaways, pink hanging decorations, and pink favors. You can also think about having all of the girls wear pink to your party, and all the boys wear pink shirts or ties, or maybe you want to be the only one wearing pink? You decide its your party!

Winter Wonderland:  Take your guests through beautiful snowflakes, snowy backdrops, snowmen, and fun! Everything about winter wonderland is so beautiful.  Your decor colors can be blue, white, silver or all three.  Your placecards can be ornaments, snowflakes, snowballs all of course on a white snowflake covered tablecloth.  You can decorate the room with white balloons acting as snow, silver glitter branches, the warm glow of candles, snowballs and snowflakes hanging from the ceiling.  Please visit our Winter Theme Favors for some beautiful favor ideas.
